The Farm
The farm comprises 5000 hectares of mixed grazing land and 190 hectares of irrigated land. They cultivate summer and winter pastures, maize, and soya grain under irrigation.
Aucamp Maree Beefmasters was established in July 2019 and registered their first Beefmasters with SA Stamboek/Logix in the same month. Their decision to choose Beefmaster as a stud and for commercial breeding was based on the benefits of triangular crossbreeding between Brahman, Hereford, and Texas Shorthorn. This approach has resulted in excellent adaptability, conformation, milk production, fertility, and significantly improved weaning weights. Currently, the herd consists of approximately 300 production stud females and 700 production commercial females (Beefmaster and Bonsmara). Only Beefmaster stud bulls are utilized for breeding with commercial females.
Breeding cattle adapted to their environment is crucial in livestock production. Aucamp & Maree Beefmasters boasts excellent facilities, including kraals for the comfort and safety of the animals. The farm is divided into camps that are rotated for grazing, ensuring each camp is rested for at least 12 months to maintain the health and productivity of the land and animals. This rotational grazing system contributes to the production of healthy animals that yield high-quality meat.
Located in an area prone to livestock diseases, notably heartwater disease, it is vital for Aucamp & Maree Beefmasters to prioritize animal care and pasture management to uphold the health and strength of their livestock. Implementing strict control measures is key to safeguarding the well-being of the animals.
The Herd
Our Bulls
We meticulously select only the highest-quality bulls to join our herd, adhering to strict criteria that ensure we only include animals with exceptional traits. Our hand-picked bulls come from esteemed lineages such as V8 Beefmasters, Bos Blanco Beefmasters, Majesto Beefmasters, Oktavia Beefmasters, Delta Beefmasters, Open Range Beefmasters, and Hokstok Beefmasters.
Our Cows
At Aucamp Maree Beefmaster, we are dedicated to breeding medium-frame cows weighing approximately 500kg, with the goal of producing healthy calves at weaning stage averaging 250kg (50% of the cow's weight).
Our focus with our cows is on breeding individuals that are early reproducers, capable of calving easily and producing ample milk to raise strong, healthy calves coveted by breeders. These cows are expected to maintain high productivity levels over an extended period, efficiently weaning calves at a good ratio to their body weight while requiring minimal energy for self-maintenance.
Optimal Livestock Breeding Practices

Due to the prevalent livestock diseases in our region, we focus on breeding cattle with a good balance between adaptability, disease resistance, and meat production.
We implement both summer and winter breeding seasons to ensure a well-distributed calving season, offering flexibility in response to market fluctuations and maximizing the use of top-quality bulls within the herd.
Artificial Insemination is a key aspect of our breeding practices at Aucamp Maree Beefmasters, enhancing the desired genetic traits within the herd.
Aucamp Maree Beefmasters is a long-term commitment, prioritizing herd efficiency by focusing on aspects such as fertility, growth, feed conversion, adaptability, and animal health management.
